The cut scenes are well made and the game is overall demented. Loved every second of it.. A nice little old-school horror experience, unfortunately very short! Edited (Because I was being a bit of a♥♥♥♥♥♥in my original review I removed it and replaced it with this one.):I got this game as part of a bundle on indiegala and really liked the look of it. Based on the preview for this game, I was expecting some kind of a survival horror like the first Resident Evil game. I had a few issues with the short time I played and because of that I'm suggesting against buying it. Not all of the things listed are bugs or issues. They're my personal opinion of something I didn't like.- The first thing that bothered me were the standing still poses the character. It looks like the bad kind of cheesey that looks akward.- The second issue I had is that the navigation got a little confusing until I got use to it. Sometimes I would walk toward the camera but then the camera woud change to left and right. When I tried going back to an area it would tell me I could walk forward but not left or right. It was something I haven't seen in a game executed this way so it threw me off. You might be able to see it on youtube videos to understand.- Third, there is a mini game that can be played called PINGO on a Shintendo system. It's an Arkanoid clone. I played it and wanted to try and beat the high score. PINGO is horribly broken. It can function but not well. That is not meant to be mean in any way, it is just a fact of the game's condition. Sometimes blocks it comes in contact with on the first level won't even break. I may go back and record playing it and post a youtube link to show how bad it really is to show what I'm talking about.- Fourth, there is some button mashing after the first level. When I'm trying to leave after the father has his dialog I get grabbed and pulled into a scene where the character dies. I did the button mashing that is prompted but it didn't change the outcome.- Fifth, the voice acting for the father is bad. The voice acting for the main character sounded like it flowed with the game and the design of the character. The voice acting for the father sounded forced and out of place. The quality of recording for the father didn't match the main character's. Also, the father's voice acting feels like it breaks the seriousness of the story in the gameplay.A positive note though, I really did enjoy the video cut scenes I think they're called. They really matched what I thought the style of the game was going for.Because of the issues with PINGO, the non working button mashing I experienced, I thought the voice acting would not get better, and I assumed the rest of the game would have even more issues, I decided to stop playing it at that point. Because of those reasons I suggest against buying this game.. There are some jumps in time, but each story ties into an even greater story in the end.House of Velez, Grave Prosperity, and finally, City of Amber all play into the same overall story.It's an odd model, but it makes for a fun way to tell a story! In House of Velez we experience the impacts of a curse from the perspective of the helpless Lily.Now...We will experience things from a very different perspective. Helpless is certainly not the way I would describe our leading lady, Amber, in Grave Prosperity.Enjoy the carnage!. Part 2 Has Begun!: Writing and planning for House of Velez Part 2 has officially begun, as of tonight! The main sections of Part 1 were rather small. So far the first area of Part 2 is already just about the same size, and it still has a long ways to go! So expect a much bigger, and much more dark and morbid experience coming in Part 2!. House of Velez Patch #3: Just did an update on House of Velez Part 1 in order to better streamline the save files between Part 1 and Part 2. The only difference you should see is at the end of Part 1, when you saved before it would say "End of Part 1" followed by your number of saves up to that point.Now when you reach the end of Part 1 and make that final save it should only say "End of Part 1" and nothing after that.. HoV - Part 2 -- ANNOUNCEMENT!: It's been a long road, but House of Velez Part 2 is finally complete! The game is planned to be released within the month. It will be set as a DLC for Part 1, at $3.99 just like Part 1.On a very important note:You must have your end game save data from Part 1 in order to begin Part 2. The game will pick up where Part 1 left off, and it will carry over your progress.
